Understand Fat Loss - 50 pages to understand fat loss entirely.
50 pages to understand fat loss entirely.
Know your enemy and you will beat it. Read this page and you will learn a LOT for free.
Dear friend,
Fat loss is a complex issue. Why do you need to drink a lot of water for fat loss? How do muscles burn fat? Is a high protein diet safe? (No, it can cause a state of ketonic coma). What does the word "balanced" in balanced diet mean? Should I take vitamins? What do supplements do? Are they worth buying? (NO). How do I eat more fiber and what does it do exactly? (fiber is a lot more complex than you ever thought possible). Why can't I burn fat anymore? Is it my metabolism? (That is just one of several different reasons and is actually a consequence, not a cause). Should I run, swim, or lift weights? (the answer isn't the same for everyone). Why does weight come back on so easily?
The survival, or starvation mode everyone talks about does not exist. Weight comes back on easily for different biochemical reasons people refer to as starvation mode, but your body does not suddenly "decide" to store more fat. It does so mechanically.
If you simply decide to eat less and exercise more to lose fat, I promise you you will lose. It is like David vs. Goliath, only much much worse.
Why you are fat?

You have more fat cells than a thin person does, and each of those 30 billion fat cells contains more fat.
That is scientific fact. The number of fat cells you have is determined by two things. Genetics, and how you ate as a child. Fat cells multiply before you reach adulthood, then stop.
Past this point, they can get bigger (stretch like balloons), but stop multiplying. It's actually difficult for them to increase in size, which is why weight gain levels out past a certain point. The fat cells are full.
This also partially explains why fat is put back on easily. When you burn it, the fat cells are emptied, but they are still there, ready to be filled again.
The other reason fat comes back on so easily is your pancreas. Over the years, sugar high and low cycles have strengthened its ability to secrete insulin. The more insulin it releases, the faster the sugar and fat are stored. That causes a sugar low, and a craving for more sugar. A vicious cycle you can put an end to, and prevent weight from coming back on.
LEARN TO DRINK ENOUGH WATER
Why water is important for fat loss.
Why you aren't drinking enough.
How to drink enough each day.
Let me introduce myself.
My name is Charles. I'm 35, and my work is programming games. I spend 8-12 hours a day sitting at my desk.
No, I am not in the fitness profession or a professional athlete. If I was, it would be easy for me to be in perfect shape. I could focus on it every day, all day long.
Just like you, I can't do that.
But I lost those 50 pounds many of us put on during the 20 years after high school, because I learned to Understand Fat Loss extensively. It's all about knowing your enemy. The above examples are but a few (there are more below).
Not needing to focus is the key.
Whatever you do, if it requires that you put your life on hold, it isn't going to work.
Losing focus is one of the biggest things keeping you from achieving, then maintaining your target weight. Deadlines, stress, everyday life keeps the focus away from your fitness goals. Know the details and you won't need to focus anymore.
Your being here reading this shows that you are motivated. Considering my skills in web design (and especially my picture), reading this far actually suggests that you are determined.
But you know that motivation will wear off. In a few weeks, or perhaps months, your obligations will absorb your focus again. And while you're not focused the fat cells get full again, quickly. The real question is, what you start doing today, will you be able to continue doing it for the rest of your life?
If not, it isn't worth the trouble. You'll just get fat again and it will be worse each time you go through that vicious yoyo cycle (fat cells stretch during stages of fast weight gain).

So what is the fat loss plan?
Actually, it wasn't a plan at first.
It became one with time, after I just took a step in the right direction.
Since the dieting books and gyms didn't keep their promises, I tried the biology books instead. I figured if I understood exactly how it works, I might be able to figure out something I missed before. Something the fitness experts and doctors weren't telling me, either because they thought I couldn't understand, or because they didn't know, or because they didn't want me to know...
Whatever the reason, it doesn't matter.
It took insane amounts of work. I didn't expect it to take so much time from my main occupations (actually, it became my main occupation for quite a while). The fact is, the information is overwhelming, and sometimes pretty difficult to understand. Everytime I read something new, it lead to something else I had to explore.
Slowly, I got all the details, one by one. How energy is stored and unstored (there's more than just the fat, and that's part of the problem), how we get hungry (the detailed how), how the muscles work, how we digest, how fat is burned and stored, how this "starvation mode" everyone keeps talking about works (it turns out it doesn't even exist), cellular metabolism, hormones (what they are, what they do), blood and lymphatic systems, the liver's job, the intestines, the pancreas, and even some psychology.
As it all sinks in, practically each aspect of how your body works brings a new idea on how to cause fat to be burned, which is the ultimate goal. It's amazing to see and understand that everything is interlinked and how that enables you to multiply actions to reach your goal.
So that's part one of the plan. Understand enough about how your body works to actually see all the details that can be put to your advantage. And there are plenty that fitness professionals or doctors never talk about.
Logically, part two is the compilation process. Structuring everything into your own plan. One that you feel comfortable with and confident that you can follow. You will probably chose to put off working out, knowing how little it helps when you don't eat right. You'll concentrate on the little things that make the big changes. Then the first results appear, and it is time to add a few more changes. Soon you're ready to take on the gym or track field: your body is actually prepared for more fat loss, without wasted effort or injury. You actually have the energy to enjoy it by then. You are making changes that will pass the test of time.

I had to cram the biology books to finally find some answers.
They are a lot more informative than dieting and fitness books.
Eating right is the most important part.
There's simply no doubt about it. People that send you to the gym to lose fat are sending you on a costly, time consuming, and disappointing wild goose chase.
I had a friend that worked in a gym. I lost touch with him but, thinking back, remember one thing he told me about his job very well. It was one of those places that have you fill out a card when you join, writing down your goals (weight loss, weight gain...). What he told me was a simple statistic: the percentage of people that reach the goals they write down by the end of the first year. The answer was zero. Not 5%, not 2%, not 0.2%. ZERO.
Of course it helps. You'll burn off a few hundred calories (there are 4000 in a pound). You'll blow off some steam. You'll strengthen your heart and release some endorphins that will make you feel good. Good workouts are part of the plan. They simply come later, when you're ready, and when you know how they work so you can do it right. For now, what you eat is much more important.
But eating right is the hardest part. Especially if you've got very bad eating habits to start with and don't know what eating right really means.
It is the part that always had me baffled. Everyone says eating right, or eating healthy is good for fat loss. OK then what is eating healthy? Lettuce and tomatoes?? There's a lot more to it than eating your vegetables. That actually requires great effort and focus, and provides very little return on your effort investment.

The most important part of understanding fat loss is knowing what eating right means, and what it does.
Understand it thoroughly and you'll find the best ways to do it each day without having to focus on it. Again, if you have to strain yourself to follow your plan, you won't follow it long.
You'll be ready for step three: gradually making the changes in your diet that count, starting with the ones that require no effort.
Now you can work out!
At this point you've made some good progress. You've learned what eating healthy really means, and actually made a few decisive changes in the right direction. You are well into step three.
Things may not be perfect yet, but they're much better. You've lost a good deal of the fat, and you've got a lot more energy to spare.
So now it's time to use it! And since you have energy to spare and you're in a great mood because you've done some great progress, you're going to enjoy it. This will make all the difference towards keeping it up in the long run.
And just like the food you chose, there are few ways to do this right, and plenty of ways to do it wrong. You can think you are eating healthy and be wrong. You can also think you are working out right and be wrong.
The exercise that works best for you depends on several things. The first is what type of muscles you have. There are two types of muscle fibers that make up your muscles. One is red and has slow contraction. The other is white and contracts fast. Having predominantly red or white muscle fibers has a big impact on what you feel comfortable doing and what you should stay away from, at least in the beginning.
Those two muscle cells are really completely different. They burn energy differently. Red muscle cells burn fat when they're working whereas white ones burn fat later, when they're resting.
Take this into account, and you can easily double the effect of exercise. That means less effort, less time, and better results.
Combined with increasingly healthy eating habits, you're on your way to fully efficient, lasting fat loss.
How I can help.
There are dozens of important things to know about fat loss that will each make a decisive difference.
Just eating less and exercising more will work to some extent, but the required effort is just too difficult to maintain in the long run. Eating right is simply more complicated than that. Exercising can be optimized and should be put off until you are ready.
Knowing it all in detail turns a permanently losing battle into something much easier and natural.
Yes, there is a price for this (I know you saw it coming), and there isn't much more I can do to fully demonstrate how much this can help you so all I can do now is promise an instant refund for 60 days if you don't like how things are going. You have my home address and email in the contact page.
But I know this service is going to make the difference. I just can't do much more to prove it. I don't have very meaningful before / after pictures (I shied away from cameras and tended to dress in such ways that hid the gut). So all I have is my guarantee.
I would also like to make it free, but I had to advertise to get you here, and a lot of work went into this instead of working to put food on the table.
Take a chance and give it a try! I promise it works wonders. It costs $47, which is a lot, but it will save you tons on junk weight loss product that do not work, food bills for junk food you won't be buying anymore (or a lot less), not to mention medical expenses in the long run if you let that weight problem get out of hand. It can be in your inbox in under two minutes!
